The Fountain of Useless Trivia Otherwise Known as Fex
Posted March 26, 2013 at 12:06pm
Have you ever learned something and then had that knowledge suddenly become relevant the very next day? Like when you learn how to multiply fractions or something and the next day the people you see need to multiply fractions for some reason but don't know how and you're like, "Hey, I can do that!" and then everyone's all impressed and you feel like a cool person with newfound confidence that you can contribute things to conversations.
This happened to me two days in a row, albeit it was with me knowing useless trivia instead of actually useful math skills.
Dumb stories follow:
The other day I watched this video of JonTron playing Space Ace for the SNES, for absolutely no reason other than that I hadn't watched any of his videos before and that was the first one I found. Then, the day before yesterday, I was over at a friend's house and he mentioned that the game Dragon's Lair had been turned into an iPhone game so he showed it to us and started talking about other games Don Bluth had made, including Space Ace. I was surprised to hear the game come up in conversation so soon after watching the JonTron video, when I had never even heard of the game before!
Second story is slightly more interesting (maybe but probably not). On a whim, I looked up Jim Caviezel's wikipedia page (because I like looking up actors from shows that I like (and Person of Interest is certainly a show that I like)), and came across this paragraph: "In 2004, Caviezel portrayed Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. During filming, he was struck by lightning, accidentally scourged, dislocated his shoulder, and suffered pneumonia and hypothermia." I made it a point to remember that because I thought it was pretty dang interesting (and also kinda funny in that it's just ridiculous how many things happened to him). And of course it just so happened that while we were having dinner at another friend's house yesterday, that movie was brought up.
