Free time? What's that?

October 25, 2012 at 3:16pm
Blimey.

I've been about as active as a corpse recently. Guess that's the trouble with university, it involves working. A lot.

Sometimes I have to sit back and remind myself that I'm actually at Cambridge, that it's meant to be difficult and amazing and this big confusing blur at once. All things considered, I suppose I'm coping quite well. Though Saturday lectures will take a lot of getting used to (I have lectures at 9:00 every day except Sunday).

So yeah. I feel I ought to write a big… continue reading

Firenze

September 19, 2012 at 2:14am
Buongiorno, amici.

I have just spent a week in the lovely city of Florence - it really is quite something. Everywhere you go, there's just renaissance loveliness on each street corner - frescoes, architecture, artwork.

I have seen works by Michaelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Botticelli, Titian, Ghiberti, just to name a few. I've climbed to the top of the Duomo whilst wearing my Assassin's Creed belt, to the top of the Campanile, been in so many churches, all of which felt o… continue reading

University

August 17, 2012 at 4:05am
Yesterday was quite a significant day - A-Level results day. For all you non-Brits out there, it's the day when you find out what grades you got and therefore whether you've met your university offer.

I had to get A*AA, and an A in Further Maths AS (which is like the first half of an A-Level) to get into Cambridge. Frankly, I was getting unsure as to whether I would manage it. Maths, which was probably my strongest subject, seemed to go badly in the exam, and Further Maths was a nightmare. So… continue reading

All Things Must End

May 20, 2012 at 11:25am
It's always difficult reflecting on events that feel so distant, or so separate. But it seems appropriate to consider the past two years as one great event, an association of significant moments all rolled into one.

I had my last true day of college on Friday, you see. Whilst some of you might view it as cause for celebration - a new freedom - it feels anything but. It's hard to put across just how fantastic the past two years have been for me. They've honestly been the happiest of my life so… continue reading

(Belated) Happy New Year

January 16, 2012 at 9:00am
So, another year down.

I must admit, it has been an interesting year - both for Rt 50 and for me. A lot of changes. College is still going well, though I'm currently stressed due to four crucial exams over the next two weeks.

On a happier note, all my university applications have gone through and I now have offers from all my unis. Cambridge included :D

So yeah. I'm determined to get the grades this year - I have an offer from the best university in the world, I'll be damned if I'm goin… continue reading

Scary Times

October 20, 2011 at 4:57pm
I'm ever so slightly scared right now.

For any of similar age to me, you'll probably understand why. University. More specifically, uni applications. Yeesh, scary times. I mean, I've sent all my stuff off; I'm predicted good grades, got great references from my tutors, but still, it's nervewracking. Just waiting.

I got an offer straight away from one uni, which is sort of good (although they are my bottom choice). The worst bit is applying for Cambridge - supposedly the best uni in the wor… continue reading
