While I may have been a little bit of a "genwunner" in the past, (though its more accurate to say that i disowned anything after gen iv) I think that I've outgrown it. Having matured as a fan, I have come to the realisation that should I find myself disliking the new pokemon because of how stupid I think they are....Well that betrays a lot of my personal philosophy. As a person, I revel in the imperfect. The things I like most about myself are my failings- Just look at how I cultivated my persona on this site; a goofy madman by nature.
Thusly, I know now that my reactions betrayed my values. It was silly and contradictory to my nature to hate what I viewed idiotic. Now that I understand this, I will be less "ugh, an ice-cream pokemon? That's so stupid. Seriously, you must be joking." and more like "Holy Shizznat! An ice-cream pokemon? That's so dumb, I love it!"
The moral of this small story, friends, is this: The difference between love and hate is paper thin. Really all it takes is a change in your outlook to flip from one to the other...
...Also you gotta embrace the goofy side sometimes.
