Location: Melodie Caves (Close to the lake)
Mission Name: Team Aura and the soul due.

You hear a strange squeal

“What was that?”

A latias appears

“What? Why is a latias here?”

Latias touches your back.

“Does it want me to follow it?”

The latias floats away

You decide to follow it.

The latias brings you to the lake.

Lying besides the lake is a wounded latios.

“Oh! The latios is in trouble!”

Latias looks at you with sad eyes.

“I will help him! Don’t worry.”

You run out of Melodie Caves and continue on route 53. The end of the route brings you to Rush District. But the town seems empty. The pokemon center is abandoned but you decide to enter it any way.

“Who’s here!?” yells another voice.

“___(your character’s name)”

“I am searching for someone who can heal pokemons. “

“Well, you won’t find what you are looking for here!” The man yelling came out of a room. “ou are currently in our camp. We are gang Aura and I am there leader. You are welcome here as long as you don’t break anything.”

You and the leader both enter the camp.

You see a blue crystal shining in a small water pool.

“What is that?”

“It’s from Melodie Caves. Our leader had payed this guy to get it. I think he was from team Rocket he was saying. But when he came back, he was telling us his adventure like that he saw a latios and defeated it. He just didn’t catch it since he didn’t have any pokeballs. The guy also said that he would come back for it later. We only think it is a bunch of lies since he obviously didn’t catch it in the first place.” Said a member team Aura.

“That is right. But that crystal is called a Soul Due (I don’t know if that is how you write it).” Said the leader

“Well that is awful!”

“Not really.”

Now your character may move around the pokemon center. The leader comes out of the room. Your hero has to go interact with the soul due. Once the soul due touched, the leader comes in the room and stops you from getting it.

“You must battle me first before having that! If you win, I will give it to you!” say's the leader.

The battle starts
The leader has 3 strong pokemons. First pokemon is lucario, the second is a dusknoir and the third is a galade. (If those are not the pokemons you want the leader to use, edit them if you like”

If being defeat, it brings you to the pokemon center and you have to come and re-touch the soul due. But if you win, the leader hands over the soul due.

“Make good use of it!” says the leader.

Now, your hero must walk its way back to Melodie Caves and go back to where you spotted the latios. Once arrived there, the soul due will start shining and you will take the soul due out. It will float back to the pool and the latias comes and greet you. The latias drags the latios in the water. The water starts shining and the latios pops out of the water all healed.

The latios comes and floats around you. You have completed the quest and now the latios and latias stay visible beside the lake and you are able to interact and catch them.

~Twill and Bee's Side Quest~
.:Gym Leader for a Day:.

Ideas by: Twill & Bee
Writing by: Twill & Bee
Proof reading by: Bee
Badly written notes by: Twill

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note 1: While this could be done at any time with any of the gym leaders, it would probably be best to do it with the 3-5 gym after the 6th gym or so. At that point it would be relatively easy to get enough Pokemon for the gym and get them to the proper levels.
Note 2: Because it would be impossible for me two know the Gym Leaders, their personalities, and their Pokemon before the RPG comes out, I'll be using one of my all time favorite Gym leaders, Jasmine, as an example. I know this will most likely need to be completely rewritten to fit the Gym Leaders for the RPG, so I will be posting my personal notes along side the Dialog and Explore Scripts at the end of the post and will also be saving not only my entry, but my notes as well, just incase something happens to this post. I will also happily write up the entire script for the Gym Leader that ya'll think is the best fit for this side quest.
Note 3: Stuff that is itilacized is when a person would be talking is them, but thinking instead of speaking, while stuff that is Bolded will be important to the Side Quest.
Note 4: (User) Would be replaced with the name the player gives the main character.
???: *sigh*
(User): Was someone sighing?
-(User) looks at the door way to the Gym and notices Jasmine standing there
(User): Was that her? I wonder if she's OK...
Special NPC list choice: Jasmine
-(User) approaches Jasmine.
Jasmine: *sigh*
(User): Umm...Is something wrong Jasmine?
Jasmine: Oh! (User), I didn't see you.
Jasmine: Yes, there is something bothering me a bit.
(User): Is Amphy sick again?
Jasmine: No, no, she's fine. But my Pokemon have seemed tired lately.
(User): Are they sick?
Jasmine: *chuckles* No, no. I think it is just fatigue.
Jasmine: Lately, the Gym has been over run with new challengers. I have had as many as seven battles in a single day.
(User): Yowch...
Jasmine: If I could just give them a day off, I'm sure my Pokemon would feel much better, but I have five more battles scheduled for today and it shows little sign of letting up.
(User): Man, I'm sorry. I wish I could do something to help.
-Jasmine thinks for a moment
Jasmine: Maybe...Maybe you can.
(User): Huh?
Jasmine: Our battle was a fierce one, but in the end you came out on top and claimed the Mineral Badge. Not only that, but you truly showed your compassion for Pokemon when you went all the way to Cianwood just to get that medicine for Amphy.
(User): Well...I was going to get the Storm Badge anyway...
Jasmine: What if...What if YOU ran the Gym?
(User): ...WHAT?
Jasmine: Just for the day, so my Pokemon and I can spend a little time relaxing.
(User): Well...Umm...If you think it'd be OK.
(User): This is like a dream come true!
Jasmine: Oh thank you so much!
Jasmine: Now before you start, you must build a team to match the theme of the Gym.
(User): OK, so what will I need?
Jasmine: You'll need a team like mine, a team that has three Pokemon that are Steel Type.
Jasmine: Also, the Pokemon need to be between level 30 and level 35.
Jasmine: Come back and talk to me once you have those Pokemon.
(User): All right!
If you talk to Jasmine with a team that does not match her rules.
-Jasmine checks your Pokemon.
Jasmine: Oh no, this isn't right. Remember, It has to be three Steel Types between the levels of 30 and 35.
Jasmine: Come back once you have the right Pokemon.
When you talk to Jasmine with a team that does match her rules.
-Jasmine checks your Pokemon.
Jasmine: Perfect! This team will do nicely. Now there is just one more thing to do before you can take my place for the day.
(User): What?
Jasmine: It is tradition that when a Gym Leader is defeated, they give the winning trainer their favorite TM, a move that at least one of the Gym Leader's Pokemon knows.
(User): Aww, I thought that was just for me.
Jasmine: Because you are taking my place, one of your Pokemon must know my TM, Iron Tail.
If none of your Pokemon know Iron Tail
Jasmine: Here is one copy of my TM, please teach it to one of your Pokemon.
The TM screen (the one that comes up when you try to teach a Pokemon a TM) comes up and you need to teach one of your Pokemon the move.
If none of your Pokemon can learn the move.
Jasmine: Oh no, this will not do. Please replace one of the Pokemon in your team with a Steel type Pokemon between level 30 and level 35 that can learn Iron Tail.
if you try to exit out, but one of your Pokemon can learn the move.
Jasmine: What? But you have to teach one of your Pokemon the move! Please try again, I'm sure one of your Pokemon can learn the move.
If one of your Pokemon already knew the move or after teaching one of your Pokemon the move.
-Jasmine checks your team again.
Jasmine: It looks like your team is ready now, so I'm going to explain how the battles will work. Please follow me into the Leaders Chambers within the Gym.
Explore list choice: Olivine City Gym
New Explore List choice: Olivine City Gym, Leaders Room.
Location description: A large room where the Gym Leader can relax between battles. With a large couch and several comfy chairs, there is plenty of sitting room for entertaining and business purposes. A large TV, a Desktop Computer, and a Bookshelf full of books gives the Gym Leader several ways to unwind after a hard battle. A Healing Machine sits near the door to make sure the Gym Leader's Pokemon are always ready for the next battle.
Like the Gyms themselves, though every Gym has a Leader's Room, each one is tailored to the Gym Leader's personal tastes. The Oliven Gym's Leader's Room is a subdued silver color, accented by the beautiful metal work of the Table, Bookshelf, Healing Machine, Computer Deck, and Entertainment Center. Per Jasmine's special request, a special cabinet and stove top were installed, allowing her to brew her favorite Teas when ever she wishes.
-(User) looks around the large room in awe.
(User): Wow!
-Jasmine sets down in one of the arm chairs and chuckles over your awestruck look
Jasmine: Thank you, but now for the business at hand.
Jasmine: As I said, there are 5 battles scheduled for today, and they are always ordered so that the trainer that seems the weakest will be the first battle, while the trainer that seems the strongest will battle will be the last battle.
(User): ...Hey...didn't I battle her first thing in the morning?
Jasmine: Between each battle, you will come back to this room, where you can heal your Pokemon and *rest before the next battle.
* I don't know how Saving works for the RPG, but I'm going to assume it works like the Video Game. Each of these resting points would be allowed so you could save your game and stop if needed.
(User): Sounds easy enough.
Jasmine: Now remember, it's the job of a Gym leader to challenge trainers so that they can become stronger and smarter, so be sure to give it your all in every battle. As a bit of motivation, I will give you a gift after I return, The more trainers you defeat, the better the gift shall be.
(User): Umm...So you want me to win? I thought Gym Leaders liked seeing their opponents win.
Jasmine: They do, but if the other Trainer does not grow from the battle, then the victory is a hollow one.
Jasmine: If the lose, they will get a glimpse into what they need to improve upon. If the win is hard fought and gotten only after a long, grueling battle, then they will most likely walk away with one or more new strategies.
-(User) nods in agreement
Jasmine: So consider my gift motivation to make sure you give it your all in every single battle!
(User): OK!
-A Gym Attendant walks in.
Gym Attendant: Jasmine, it is time for your first battle.
-Jasmine stands up and walks over to the back door of the room.
Jasmine: I'm going to take the day off today.
Gym Attendant: Bu! But Jasmine!
Jasmine: It's OK, I have a replacement for the day.
-Jasmine motions towards (User) with her hand
Gym Attendant: ...(User)? Isn't he/she that one we scheduled first thing in the morning and somehow managed to beat you?
-Jasmine nods, confirming the Attendant’s statement
-(User) stands up from chair, frowning at the two
(User) HEY! You know I'm standing right here!
-Jasmine and the Attendant both laugh as (User) fusses and fumes over the insults.
Jasmine: Well despite what you may think, I believe in (User). I've already explained how everything works to him/her, and he/she has a team like mine, so everything should go fine.
Jasmine: I will return about Sundown. So long until then.
-Jasmine pushes open the back door and walks out
Gym Attendant: Well "Leader" (User), are you ready for your first battle?
If you chose no.
Gym Attendant: Well then hurry up! We've got a full day of battles ahead!
Once you chose yes.
Gym Attendant: Follow me then.
Note 5: The battles will have two special rules. Rule one is that you cannot use Items or you can only use select items provided for you. Rule two is that your Pokemon will not gain EXP for these battles, so that your level 35 Pokemon doesn't end up level 37 by the final battle.
Battle #1
Gym Announcer: It is now time for a battle!
Gym Announcer: Young Trainer Billy verses Gym Leader (User)!
Billy: Oh wow! You must be strong to be a gym leader!
(User): W-well.. you see, I-
Gym Announcer: Battle! BEGIN!
Young Trainer Billy's team would be a rather poor one, having only two Pokemon that are several levels below yours, in the 27-30 range. He would also have Pokemon who's types are not against yours.
Example Team: Sudowodo lvl 27, Jynx lvl 30
-If Billy wins.
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Young Trainer Billy!
Billy: I...I WON!
(User): This is not starting out well...
-(User) hands Mineral Badge and TM Iron Tail to Young Trainer Billy
-If you win.
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Gym Leader (User)!
Billy: I lost... Aw well, I guess I'll just have to train harder!
(User): That's the spirit!
-Once you return to the Leader room from any of the battles using the same script every time you enter the Leader's room.
(User) Well that’s (insert number of battles done so far) down.
Battle #2
Gym Announcer: It is now time for another battle!
Gym Announcer: Ranger Nia verses Gym Leader (User)!
Nia: They might not be the best Pokemon, but they're my friends, and that's all that counts.
(User) That's a nice thou-
Gym Announcer: Battle! BEGIN!
While Nia's team would be better then Billy's, it's still a bad choice for this gym, and would still be at lower levels than yours in the 29 to 31.
Example team: Butterfree lvl 30, Ivysaur lvl 30
If Nia wins.
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Ranger Nia!
Nia: I knew our friendship would shine through!
(User): You surprised me out there! Good job!
-(User) hands Mineral Badge and TM Iron Tail to Ranger Nia
If you win.
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Gym Leader (User)!
Nia: Oooooh... I guess we weren't good enough...
(User): Just keep training! You'll get there soon enough!
Battle #3
Gym Announcer: It is now time for another battle!
Gym Announcer: School Kid Hannah verses Gym Leader (User)!
Hannah: I've been studying this Gym, so this should be a good battle!
(User): Glad to he-
Gym Announcer: Battle! BEGIN!
(User): STOP THAT!
This battle should be the first even battle, neither side having a distinct advantage. Her team should have three Pokemon, to match your number of Pokemon, and have types that are not really good, but not really bad against yours. Also, the levels should be close to yours, in the 29 to 32 range.
Example team: Seel lvl 29, Pikachu lvl 31, Porygon 2 lvl 30
-If Hannah wins
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...School Kid Hannah!
Hannah: I knew that studying would pay off!
(User): Looks like you were right. Good match.
-(User) hands Mineral Badge and TM Iron Tail to School Kid Hannah
-If you win.
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Gym Leader (User)!
Hannah: But I studied so hard!
(User): Obviously not enough.
(User) You'll get better in time, no worries.
Battle #4
Gym Announcer: It is now time for another battle!
Gym Announcer: Beauty Samantha verses Gym Leader (User)!
(User): ...
Samantha: ...
(User): ...
Samantha: ...Umm...aren't you like, going to say something?
(User): I would, but every time I try to say something the Announcer--
Gym Announcer: Battle! BEGIN!
-(User) looks annoyed
(User): --interrupts me...
Samantha's team is going to be good, possibly having a resistance on you. She's going to be at about your level, in the 32 to 35 range, and she has the same number of Pokemon as you.
Example team: Golduck lvl 33, Jolteon lvl 33, Metang lvl 35
If Samantha wins.
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Beauty Samantha!
(User): ...
Samantha: Look who's not talking now~
(User): ...Hmph...
-(User) hands Mineral Badge and TM Iron Tail to Beauty Samantha
If you win.
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Gym Leader (User)!
Samantha: I guess you really are "silent and deadly!"
-(User) smirks
Battle #5
Gym Announcer: It is now time for the last battle!
Gym Announcer: Cool Trainer Andrew verses Gym Leader (User)!
Andrew: What? Jasmine isn't here? This should be easy!
(User): Why you little-
Gym Announcer: Battle! BEGIN!
(User): ...I was just going to call him a punk...
(User): But really...
Andrew came to the gym prepared, all of his Pokemon are going to have levels close to yours, maybe higher, he has several Pokemon capable of Super Effective hits, and might even have one more Pokemon then you!
Example Team: Charmeleon lvl 33, Luxray lvl 33, Golem lvl 34, Empoleon lvl 36.
If Andrew wins
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Cool Trainer Andrew!
Andrew: Way to easy. Jasmine would have been MUCH harder.
-(User) grumbles to himself/herself
-(User) hands Mineral Badge and TM Iron Tail to Cool Trainer Andrew
If you win
Gym Announcer: And the winner is...Gym Leader (User)!
Andrew: WHAT!? B-but.. HOW!?
(User): You were too full of yourself.
Andrew: Whatever.
-Once all of the battles have been completed
Location: Olivine City Gym, Leader's Room
-(User) lay down on the couch.
(User): Oh man, being a Gym Leader's harder then it looks.
???: It is hard, but it has it's perks.
(User): Hmm?
-(User) sits up on the couch.
(User): Jasmine! You're back!
Jasmine: Yes, fully rejuvenated too.
(User): I can see why you’d need a break from all of this.
-(User) yawns loudly.
Jasmine: *chuckle* It can certainly be draining, but seeing all of those trainers, having all of those, it's also fun, and knowing that I'm helping every single person that comes through these doors to grow into a better trainer, that's what being a Gym Leader is all about.
(User): Yea...I guess so.
Jasmine: So how did you do?
If you won one to four of the battles.
(User): I won (insert number here) of the battles.
Jasmine: Well it sounds like I made a good choice picking you as my replacement. Here, take these items as your reward.
-(User) received various items!
Jasmine: Thank you again for giving us the day off.
(User): Anytime Jasmine!
-(User) waves to Jasmine as he/she walks out of the door into the main part of the Gym.
If you won all five of the battles.
(User): I won all five of the battles.
Jasmine: Oh wow! It's an amazing feat, even for a full time Gym Leader, to win five strait matches in one day! This most certainly deserves a special reward.
-Jasmine opens the door into the main part of the Gym, leaving (User) alone for a couple of minutes until she returns holding a brown egg.
Jasmine: This egg is very special to me and my Steelix, please, take good care of it.
-(User) received a Pokemon Egg from Jasmine!
(User): Wow! Thanks!
Jasmine: Thank you again for giving us the day off.
(User): Anytime Jasmine!
-(User) waves to Jasmine as he/she walks out of the door into the main part of the Gym.
If you lost all five battles.
(User): Ummm...Well you see...
Jasmine: ...
(User): ...I kinda lost them all...
Jasmine: ...What?
(User): I lost all five of my battles...
Jasmine: You....You must be joking! Even for a complete novice that's a feat.
(User): Sorry.
Jasmine: *sigh* Well I guess I get what I pay for.
(User): Errr...What?
Jasmine: Just go, I am going to have to call all of those trainers and tell them to come back in for another battle, I just hope they haven't gone to far.
-As Jasmine begins making calls, (User) sneaks out the door into the main part of the Gym.
.:Twill's Badly Written Notes:.
While this could be done at any time with any of the gym leaders, it would probably be best to do it with the 3-5 gym after the 6th gym or so.
When exploring near the entrance to the Gym Leader's gym, you find the gym leader acting rather spacey (or annoyed or tired. Whichever would work best for the Gym Leaders personality), bringing up the same options as when talking to the mother in the first Side Guest. Once asked, the Leader explains that he/she has been way overbooked with battles for the past week, and has five more lined up today and says that both him/her and him/her Pokemon are both kind of tired of battles and wish they could take the day off.
Thinking back to how badly you beat him/her, he/she decides that you could take his/her job...for one day at least, but you'll need a team close to his/hers. You would need the same number of Pokemon that are the same type of his/hers and are about the same level. I'll use Jasmine from HG/SS as an example. If she was the Gym Leader you were replacing for the day, you would need to find three Pokemon that all shared the Steel Typing and where between 30 and 35.
Once you have the required Pokemon, and ONLY the required Pokemon, you will need to meet back up with the Leader. He/she will explain that it is tradition for a Gym Leaders Pokemon to know the TM that the Leader give to winning trainers, and thus forces you to teach one of your Pokemon said move. After you teach someone the move, the Leader explains how it's going to go. You'll need to compete in five strait matches, with a small break between matches (to save maybe? ^-^;) and your Pokemon will be healed between each match. Your goal is to try and win all of the matches, because a Gym Leader's job is to test and push the limits of every trainer that challenge them, in the hopes to make them better.
Here’s an example of what the teams should be like, as I don't know exactly what all Pokemon are in it.
Trainer 1: Very bad team, especially against that Gym's types. Like using week Bug types if it's a Fire Type Gym that are at lower levels then yours and have a Pokemon or two less then you.
Trainer 2: Slightly better, but still pretty bad. Using not so strong Pokemon that are still bad match ups. Like Ice Types when the Gym's Type is Water.
Trainer 3: The first decent team. A good mix of types leaving neither side with an advantage. like using Fire, Water and Poison types against a Fighting type gym. Also, this should be the first trainer with the same number of Pokemon as you.
Trainer 4: Starting to get hard. Some of the better Pokemon will be in this team, and the levels become about even. This trainer should also have a Pokemon that's kinda good against your Type, like a Steel Type against a Poison Gym.
Trainer 5: A really good trainer. Might have a Pokemon or two at a higher level then yours, and might even have one more Pokemon then you, not to mention some real type advantages, like a Ground type if the Gym is Electric Type.
After all is said and done, the Gym Leader gives you a little something based on how many battles you won, meaning the more you win, the better the items.
If you...
Lost them all: The Gym leader asks you if you were kidding being making a remark about how they made a bad choice in you.
Won 1: They give you a small number of Crystals and a few of the low tier items, like Potions, Full Heals, and Pokéballs.
Won 2: They give you a medium number of Crystals and some of mid tier items, like Revives, Moo moo milks, and Great Balls.
Won 3: They give you a large number of Crystals and several high tier items, like Max Revives, Ultra Balls, and the special Pokéballs like Net Balls or Timer Balls
Won 4: They give you another copy of that Gym's TM. Because in game the Gym TMs are one time only, and though they might change that for the EHQ/R50 RPG, it'd be a good bet to say they would still be hard to find.
Won all 5: An egg containing a the first Evolution of the Gym Leader's Pokemon. It would know the Gym's TM move and an Egg Move or two. Like if it was Volkner (from platinum) you could get an Elekid with Charge Beam (The TM) and Cross Chop (one of it's Egg Moves).
Location : Haku Mountains
Mission Title: Exploration of the Haku Mountains
"Wait up, Lex!"
"Maybe if you weren't such a Slowpoke, Phil."
"I'm in no rush. Archeology requires focus and concentration!"
"That only counts when you get to the dig site, you numskull."
The two brothers carefully climbed the jagged mountainside. Mount Oris stood before them, it's shimmering marble surface glimmering in the sunlight. They were heading towards the top of the mountain to observe the fossils of ancient bird Pokemon. The sky was bright and the clouds were scarce. A Spearow flock flew by them, nearly knocking Lex off his footing.
"Ayeee!" He screamed, scrabbling to find a sturdy grip. Phil laughed at him from above and continued to climb.
"Hey, a cavern!" Phil said from above. "I didn't know these mountains had caves." Carefully, Phil pulled himself up into the cave, then turned to give his brother a hand. Lex collapsed, out of breath and looked around. The bones of various bird pokemon lay sprawled across the cave floor. A deep cold came from within the cave. Crystals grew from the walls and ceiling, making the entire came seem shiny and pristine.
"This is amazing. An ice cavern in the middle of a mountain." Lex said with a smile.
"Is this even possible?" Phil pestered, looking around.
"Of course it is. Why wouldn't it be? I assume we're high enough." Lex replied with a smile. He took out his brush and began examining the bones. He concluded that they belong to Fugis Magnocreatura, an extinct ancestor of the Pokemon Pidgey.
"Lex, there's something watching us." Phil cried, looking into the depths of the cave. The air became incredibly cold as a Pokemon emerged from the cave, it's eyes red with rage."
"Incredible! A Mamoswine living in this region. That's astounding!" Lex concluded, coming closer to the behemoth. "He must have created this environment for him to live in. I wonder how it could have got her."
"It's family probably has lived her for eons. That explains the ancient bones." Phil concluded. He reached into his backpack and withdrew his trusty Torkoal. The Pokemon glowed bright red as it appeared into the world. The Torkoal blew steam from it's nostrils, and the Mamoswine crept back.
Then, it surprisingly kicked up dust from the cave floor, blinding Torkoal. The Pokemon coughed as the Mamoswine rushed towards it, using Take Down. The Torkoal surprisingly flew back and out of the cave, sliding down the mountainside. Phil ran to cliff, withdrawing Torkoal before it got to far out of reach.
"My turn, I 'spose" Lex says with a smirk. "Kadabra, let's go!" He says, throwing a grey PokeBall into the air. The yellow Pokemon appeared in front of Mamoswine, eying it cautiously. It walked around the Mamoswine, carefully viewing it's opponent. The Mamoswine grew pestered with Kadabra games and as it rounded Mamoswine's right flank, the mammoth Pokemon slammed Kadabra against the cave wall. Kadabra crumpled, fainting under the impact.
The sound of piglets filled the room. Two Swinub cave to the Mamoswine's side. Lex looked at the fierce eyes of the Pokemon and smiled.
"It's just a father, protecting it's children." Lex says to his brother. Phil is surprised and confused.
Lex steps foward to Mamoswine, who bends it's head, ready to spear Lex to death. "Relax," He says calmly "We're not here for you or your babies. We simply want to look around. Is that OK?" He says.
The Mamoswine looks at him for a few seconds and calms down. It turns around and retreats into the depths of the cave, the air becoming loss and warm again. The Swinub retreat after their father, leaving the men alone.
"How did you...?" Phil exclaimed, baffled.
"I don't know. It was just a hunch." Lex replies "Probably because I feel the same way about my son."
"Well, that was amazing." Phil says, looking to the cliff. The sun is setting, painting the sky orange-blue.
"You want to camp here?" Phil suggests
"Sure, I guess." Lex replies, dropping his gear. He lays out his sleeping bag and crawls in, falling asleep, and dreaming of the day he'll be with his children again too.
First contest and post for me! Let's see how this does :D
LOCATION: Serenade Pass, Route 52(through dream)
CHARACTERS: You(Obviously), wild Shuppet
Important notes:
-this dash shows different dialogue lines and whatnot
+Shows questions for the player to choose from
=Answers to those questions
Setting: Player arrives at the Serenade Pass after passing through Route 51
-You arrive at the majestic Serenade Pass, the moon barely breaking over the trees of the distant Bramble Woods. Your Pokémon following you show signs of being tired, but look as if they might be able to continue on.
+Do you wish to commence onward into the woods of Route 52 tonight or rest here near the bridge?
=I wish to rest[Starts side quest]
=I do not want to rest. Let's get going already![Side quest skipped until player comes through again from Route 51's direction]
*Player chooses Option 2*
-After discussing with your Pokémon on how tired they are, your group continues onward into Route 52.
*Player chooses Option 1*
-Some of your Pokémon actually are more tired than they look, thus you decide to stay for the night and set up camp. After cooperating with rolling out the bedrolls, gathering firewood, and preparing some food, your group relaxes by the fireside. Talk of recent experiences fill the air in both English and Pokémon Speak, with laughter rolling around and echoing in the pass. Talking eventually dies away as the night drags on and the moon rises in the sky. A blue glint of light shines for a second from the nearby forest, catching your attention, but you dismiss it as nothing. After your Pokémon are well asleep, you finally turn in and snuff out the flame to leave the embers warming the surroundings.
Back story(not included in side quest dialogue): A Shuppet emerges from Route 52, seeing the player's group sleeping. It uses Nightmare and Dream Eater on the group, feasting on the succulent dreams while the group unwillingly writhes from their dreams. This Shuppet is what causes the dream the player has, but their Pokémon are linked to the same dream so they experience what the player has as well.
Setting: Route 52 Dreamland
-You wake up, surprisingly among some trees with no sign of any exit. A gnarled tree looms overhead, mysteriously shaped like an Exeggutor. Your Pokémon also happen to be in their Pokéballs as well, which is strange since you never recalled them last night. Or maybe earlier that evening, since you can't tell night or day in the blasted trees.. You wander off, trying to get your bearings in the never-ending maze of trees.
How I have the "mini-game" of sorts planned is a maze-like sequence where your dialogue choices decide where you go. Some paths lead to dead ends, which does not mean the player turns around and retraces their steps. The player, when starting, has a "Dream Health" bar somewhere on the screen. The bar's health represents how many tries the player has in navigating through the maze before waking up drained. So if the player encounters a dead end, they fade out and end up back at the starting place of the dream, a chunk of their Dream Health gone. If the player makes it through the maze with at least a little health remaining, they get the prize, which is knowledge of how to get through Route 52's tree maze(if that's what's planned for Route 52. If not, the player finds some alternative item or other knowledge). If the player ends up losing all of the health in the Dream Health bar however, they wake up with the Shuppet nowhere to be seen and all of their Pokémon are not very rested. Until the player rests again, their Pokémon will have a temporary speed reduction from the nightmares. How the player loses Dream Health is by losing in wild Pokémon battles as well as the dead ends.
Example of a dead end situation:
(Player is at one crossroad where the middle path leads onward to the other end of the forest)
-The trees group around to create three paths ahead. All are equally tantalizing, but the sound of running water seems to float from the center path.
+Which path do you choose?
=The left because left is always the way to go!
=Middle will always end up somewhere at the edge, so I choose that path.
=Right because I'm always right!
*Player chooses left path*
-Confident in your guessing abilities, you trudge onward through the left path. Ten yards later reveal a dead end, to your dismay. As you turn around, you black out and feel your conscience slip away, re-materializing back where you woke up earlier under the Exeggutor tree. Wonderful.
The process repeats with different paths and different circumstances. The path choices can either be randomly generated or put in a set pattern, like Right, Center, Right, Left, Right, Center, and Left leads out of the forest. The player may also randomly find wild Pokémon to battle, but they cannot catch them. If they try to catch the Pokémon, the Pokéballs pass through the Pokémon as if they were ghosts, but the Pokéballs are still useful, not wasted from the attempted capture. If the wild Pokémon defeat all of the player's Pokémon, they black out but wake up in the same spot where they encountered the wild Pokémon, with their Pokémon fully healed, but some of their dream health gone.
More details on ending
Setting: The player finally found a way out of Route 52's maze, the dream's sunlight washing away any dream effects of the Shuppet and awakening the player and their Pokémon. The sun hasn't come yet, just so you know.
-You awaken feeling great, but curious as to where you are at. Nearby hovering in the trees is a lonely Shuppet, dazed from its interrupted moonlight meal. As you Pokémon shake off their sleep, you yell out, "Defeat that Shuppet!"
*Cue Battle Scene Music!* Pokémon battle occurs, whether the player defeats the Shuppet, it runs off. No catching the Shuppet for you!
Battle is over, player either defeated the Shuppet or it defeated the player
-You watch as the Shuppet emerges from the dust of the battle scathed and floats off into the moonlight of the disappearing moon. Your Pokémon lick their wounds, cleansing them of any shadow from the Shuppet. The sun soon rises in a matter of minutes, revealing the forest looming ahead in your path. Your group packs away the supplies from the previous evening, washes up, and continues on.
People may WANT to hang around Serenade Pass to do whatever (catch Pokémon, train, whatever trainers do, I guess). So the player can choose whether to continue onto Route 52(or 51) or rather stay around. But whenever they decide to go onward to Route 52, they trigger a new dialogue.
Setting: Deep in Route 52 near starting spot in dream
-As you aimlessly wander lost in the forest, you recognize a familiar tree: the Exeggutor tree. You rush up, wondering if the dream forest happened to be Route 52 in reality. You remember the path you took out of the forest from the dream clearly as well, providing a clear-cut path across Route 52.
+Do you want to travel the path from the dream across to the next area or remain in Route 52 to train?
=Why would I want to continue onward to unknown danger when I can train right here? I'm staying put and training!
=No way, this forest gave me the creeps already. No need to continue to have nightmares for a week. I'm getting the heck outta here!
Staying and training will allow wild battles to happen and whatever else happens naturally in Route 52. Leaving takes the player onward to the Rush District and what awaits them there.
Summary/3 sentence version: The player camps out and gets trapped into a nightmare. They either get hopelessly lost and wake up drained with a penalty or find their way out to see a Shuppet causing everything. If the player finds a way out of the dream, they gain an easy way through Route 52.
Enjoy <3
TWILL AND BEE'S SECOND SIDE QUEST ENTRY
Hide and Go Seek
Ideas by: Twill and Bee
Writing/Script by: Twill and Bee
Proof reading by: Twill
Notes by: Bee
--------------------------
Note 1: I'm thinking this quest would be activated by entering Bellbrook after you've acquired the ability to use HM Surf, since that is a necessary move for this quest to complete it. The reason why you can't activate this event before getting HM Surf is because this cannot be continued after a long time, just to keep things realistic. Also, it should happen in the afternoon-nighttime. (Things will be explained after the script, unless you can figure out why as you read along)
Note 2: So, here's a legend for the script. Italics is the (User)'s thoughts, and regular text like this is pretty much talking. Underlined text is pretty much the Explore menus and whatnot. Lastly, Bold text is important info and other notes(usually recognized with a *) about the quest. c: The script thing.. erm, yeah, I didn't put BBCode for it. ;v; Didn't know that, so, sorry!
Note 3: Like Twirl's--er, I mean Twill's Script, (User) would be replaced by the name the player gives the main character.
Special Note: I realize that this is slightly similar to Chiramii's entry, but we in no way copied her. This was an idea that we made before, but it was just posted after her's. I just wanted to clear that if any confusion is caused. ^^
The script!
Picture for your pleasure! lD
Notes and Description of the Side Quest
So, we've come to that part. Anyways, this is just a basic summary of the events. Like a description of the side quest? Yeah, they both work. Now, to get on the serious side. (Derp.)
To unlock this quest, I guess these would be the requirements:
  • Have the access to use Surf outside of battle
  • Teach a Pokemon Surf
  • Make sure that Pokemon is in your party
  • Have a Pokemon with the Pick-Up ability in your party
  • It should be activated from the afternoon to night time.
So, I'll make this short. Basically, you have to find a woman's children, her name is Stella, who were playing Hide and Seek by the edge of town. It's been late and she hasn't seen them since, and feels like they're lost. Looking up to you for help, she requests you find them, you have a choice to decline, and huzzah, it's time to be the seeker. Along the way, you find a helpful, yet timid boy named Seth who was the initial seeker, but didn't do a single thing. Arceus knows why. Nonetheless, he helps you by writing down where he saw everyone go, and although it's not exactly the most accurate in spelling, you somehow identify it. Honestly, "Ie"? Anyways, you lead him back to his mom, that being the checkpoint for the children you find to go.
The children you find along the way are Trent, a spacy guy who's found himself stuck under the bridge in Serenade Pass. You have to help him with the Pokemon who knows Surf. Then, there's Ethan. The oldest kid of Stella's children, and gets bored pretty quickly. He wants to battle you to cure that, then he'll go back. There's Lilac, a girl obsessed with beauty, who's lost her barrette, her favourite to be exact, and needs you to find it! If you do, she'll go back. Using the Pokemon with the Pick-Up ability will help. Then there's her twin, Lilly, who's a know-it-all and doesn't believe that you know her mom. Asking you questions is what she does, and when you answer them correctly, she believes you. Finally, there's Austin, who's a little mischievous but got into a mess by accident. He's been chased up into a tree by a Arcanine and two Growlithe, and it's your job to battle them and calm them down! Once you do, he'll get off the tree and go back.
Finally, when you've got them all, Stella will invite you into her home for a treat or two. No cutscene here, folks, sorry. Your prize? 5 Lemonade and 5 Poffins, one of each kind! Oh, do you want a bonus? Well, if you find her children in this order: Seth, Trent, Ethan, Lilly or Lilac, Lilac or Lilly, and Austin, she'll notice it and say that their first letters of their names connect with her name. Stella. Inviting you for a treat and more, you get 10 Lemonade and 5 Poffins, one of each kind, but in a better quality, as your end result! Now, you can continue your journey.
G'aah, this is short, but yes, this is it because, erm, I had to rush. .___. Anyways, this is a basic, sort of long for a summary summary. xD
SIDEQUEST ENTRY BY: FEXIBLE AND ICEBREATH
Quote (KING'S MARSH)
SUMMARY: On the way to Route 52, the hero comes across an out-of-the-way fishing community called King's Marsh, where a quirky old man is trying to save the Slowpoke from destruction, since the marsh they live in is soon to be destroyed. Once you talk to the old man and he mentions the hero's sidequest, he doesn't give the hero the option to opt out of the quest. However, if the hero is in Scene A, he/she is free to leave King's Marsh without helping the old man and his Slowpoke colony. Of course, that would be kind of mean.
Explore: a glowing light by the far side of the river
Scanner: displays an out-of-the-way town near the river
INTERACT WITH GLOWING LIGHT/TRAVEL BY SCANNER TO THE LOCATION
SCENE A
You reach a marshy area and a few scattered houses. Fishermen are lined up by the marsh, reeling in catches. An odd old man in pink robes is sitting by the water's edge. The glowing light proves to be a small group of Duskull, and as you see them, they disappear.
Explore: encounter a wild Pokemon in the grass, battle a fisherman, or find an item
Interact: talk to the fishermen or talk to the old man
Interact with the fishermen
Fishermen are lined up by the marsh, reeling in catches.
Fisherman: Huh? What are you doing here?
Hero: I'm a Trainer... what is this place?
Fisherman: Oh, this is King's Marsh. We're a little fishing community. *narrows eyes* Well, you can fish or you can skedaddle. Why don't you skedaddle?
Hero: All right...
Return back to Scene A.
Interact with the old man
The old man stares at you suspiciously. You can see a Slowpoke in the marsh.
Hero: Um, hello, do you know where -
Old Man: Huh? *narrows eyes* Who're you? What're you doing here?
Hero: I'm -
Old Man: Uh-uh! You're work for the Company, aren't you?
Hero: I - what?
Old Man: YOU ARE! YOU'RE HERE TO GET MY SLOWPOKES! Well, you know what? You ain't messin' with my Slowpokes and you ain't taking this marsh! Skedaddle! SKEDADDLE!
Hero: I don't work for any company! I'm a Trainer!
Old Man: Oh... are you sure? *narrows eyes*
Hero: Yes! What is this company, anyway?
Old Man: *leans in* They're coming to take away this marsh! They're gonna drain it and bulldoze it and do everything to it!
Hero: That's terrible!
Old Man: "Terrible"? What d'you know about it? You don't even know what this place is, do you?
>Hero: Yeah! The fishermen told me.
>Old Man: THE FISHERMEN?
>Hero: No, where am I?
>Old Man: This is King's Marsh! We are a fishing community!
Old Man: The fishermen DON'T CARE ABOUT THE MARSH THEIR TOWN IS NAMED AFTER! All they do is fish! And fishing for Slowpoke's worth nothing, so they are perrrrfectly fine with the Company! As long as the money's in their pockets, they are sa-tis-FIED! I need to save the Slowpoke, but nobody will listen to me... *sniffs* I NEED SOME HELP! What do you say? Help me save this poor Slowpoke colony!
>Hero: Of course I'll help!
>Old Man: YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!
>Hero: Um, I don't know...
>Old Man: WHAT?! OF COURSE YOU'LL HELP!
Old Man: Now, I try to talk to the Slowpoke - no, I'm not crazy! I tell them, we gotta get away, we gotta escape! But all they do is stare and blubber and sit around! So I figgered, they need a LEADER! Someone who can LEAD them in times of crisis! Now, what can lead a Slowpoke colony, I thought to myself?
Hero: ...
Old Man: Well? ANSWER THE QUESTION!
Hero: I thought you knew -
Old Man: Now, whatever made you think that?
Hero: ...
Old Man: A SLOWKING! Good job, I knew you had it in you. Now, here's a Rod and a Net Ball. Now go catch me a Shellder!
Hero: Okay...
Return to Scene A.
Interact with the fisherman
Fisherman: Oh, you have a Rod now? Sure, feel free to fish here. Just don't bother us!
If you come back with no Net Ball and no Shellder
Old Man: What?! What is this nonsense? Go find your own Poké Ball, I've seen some spare ones hanging around in the grass.
If you come back with the Net Ball but no Shellder
Old Man: Now go catch me a Shellder!
If you caught a different Pokemon with the Net Ball
Old Man: I may be nearly blind, youngster, but I can tell that's not a Shellder! Go find your own Poké Ball, I've seen some spare ones hanging around in the grass.
If you caught a Shellder with a different Ball
Old Man: Fine! Keep the Net Ball. At least you caught it!
If you caught the Shellder with the Net Ball
Old Man: GOOD JOB! Here you go, here's an extra Net Ball just for you!
Old Man: Now, lemme take that Rod from you... Okay, let's bring this to the Slowpoke. Go on, drop the Shellder into the water.
Hero: All right. Go, Shellder!
You put it into the water. It approaches a Slowpoke, and then swims away in clear disdain.
Old Man: Eh? The Shellder won't even go near the Slowpoke! We must need something to attract the Shellder. But what kind of item attracts a Shellder?
Hero: ...
Old Man: Come on, answer my question!
Hero: Uh...
Old Man: Of course! A KING'S ROCK! There's a fishing boat down the river that's selling all sorts of things. Go see if they're selling a King's Rock!
Return to Scene A.
NEW EXPLORE ITEM IN SCENE A!
Explore: the flashy fishing boat further down the river
You reach a small fishing boat docked at the water's edge. Fishermen are carrying their catches to the boat. A man, the Captain of the fishing boat, stands by the boat with his wife. Various items and treasures are spread out on the ground in front of him.
Interact with the fishermen
Fisherman: What do you want, kid? Can't you see I'm busy? Why don't you go buy something from the Captain?
Interact with the Captain and his wife
Captain: Hello! I've picked up quite a few items while traveling. I have no use for them, so I'm selling them here. Take a look and see if anything catches your eye.
Hero: Hi, I'm Hero. Actually, I'm looking to buy a King's Rock.
Captain: A King's Rock? Well, you're in luck! I happen to have only one King's Rock left. I can sell it to you for $10,000.
Hero: What? I don't have that much money!
Captain: That's my price, and I'm sticking to it. If you don't like it, you can go somewhere else.
Captain's Wife: Hold on, maybe we can work something out. *whispers*
Captain: Fine! You can have the King's Rock if you can defeat five of my best fishermen in a Pokemon battle. I'll meet you by the river. *walks away*
Hero: Wow! How did you convince him to do that?
Captain's Wife: *giggles* I have my ways! Besides, it'll give him an excuse to fire them. They're so disagreeable, he wants some new blood. I'm done blabbering. Now go beat some fishermen!
Return to Scene A.
Interact with the fishermen
A bunch of fishermen are hanging around. The Captain is standing by the river.
Fisherman 1: Huh, the Captain told you to battle us? A little kid, really? Alright, then.
Captain: I'll fire you if you lose.
Fisherman 1: What?!
Fisherman's Party: Magikarp, Feebas
Difficulty Level: Ridiculously Easy
If you win: Huh, you beat me!
>Captain: YES. YOU'RE FIRED.
If you lose: Hahaha, Magikarp and Feebas were tougher than you thought, huh?
>Captain: ...I'm disappointed in you, Hero.
~
Fisherman 2: I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear!
Captain: ...
Fisherman 2: It's okay, Captain, I'll beat the pants off of him/her! You won't have to fire me.
Fisherman's Party: Goldeen, Krabby
Difficulty Level: Easy
If you win: Oh no, you beat me!
>Captain: YES. YOU'RE FIRED.
If you lose: Haha! It's because you aren't wearing shorts.
>Captain: ...I'm very disappointed in you, Hero.
~
Fisherman 3: Fish are friends, not food!
Captain: Then why are you a fisherman?
Fisherman 3: ...
Fisherman's Party: Goldeen, Krabby, Corphish
Difficulty Level: Medium
If you win: No! Only one of my Pokémon is a fish, anyway!
>Captain: FOR THAT, YOU'RE FIRED.
If you lose: Ha ha! Only one of my Pokémon is a fish, anyway!
>Captain: You see why I have to fire these guys?
~
Fisherman 4: I may be stupid, but I'm not stupid!
Captain: *sighs*
Fisherman 4: I am completely serious!
Fisherman's Party: Goldeen, Krabby, Corphish, Barboach
Difficulty Level: Medium
If you win: What?! I was being completely serious!
>Captain: I am seriously firing you!
If you lose: I seriously won!
>Captain: I am seriously disappointed.
~
Fisherman 5: Alright, I know my pals are kind of dumb, but trust me, I'm tough.
Captain: You should see his -
Fisherman 5: I AM NOT GIRLY! *rage*
Fisherman's Party: Goldeen, Krabby, Corphish, Barboach, Milotic
Difficulty Level: Hard
If you win: WHAT? *rage*
>Captain: You're fired! *grins*
If you lose: Milotic was pretty tough, huh?
>Captain: If only you had beaten this one.
~
If you beat all five
>Captain: YES. Finally got them off my back. Alright, here's your King's Rock. You deserved it, kiddo.
If you didn't beat all five
>Captain: Well, couldn't get all of them. Sorry, but a deal's a deal, kiddo. The King's Rock cost way too much for me to just give it away.
If you didn't beat any of them
>Captain: I... I can't say anything. I'm really disappointed, kiddo, I though you had more in you.
Return to Scene A.
Interact with the old man
If you have the King's Rock
>Old Man: Oh look! You got it for me, that's great. But guess what happened?
>Hero: What?
>Old Man: *takes out King's Rock from pocket* I found this on the ground! Who knew.
>Hero: So I went through battling five clueless fishermen for nothing?
>Old Man: Of course not! I'll take that from you, and now I have two!
>Hero: Hey!
>Old Man: I'm just kidding, youngster. You can keep it.
If you don't have the King's Rock
>Hero: I... don't have it.
>Old Man: WHAT?!
>Hero: I'm really sorry!
>Old Man: Oh, don't be. Guess what happened?
>Hero: What?
>Old Man: *takes out King's Rock from pocket* I found this on the ground! Who knew!
Hero: How in the world did you find an extremely rare item out of nowhere?!
Old Man: Well... actually, I misremembered. I didn't find it on the ground... I had it with me all along! Who knew.
Hero: ...
Old Man: Now why don't you come on down and see the Slowpoke!
The Slowpoke are sitting around the marsh, doing nothing and staring blankly.
Hero: They're kind of... unlovable.
Old Man: What's that? Did you say they were lovable? Of course!
Hero: ...
Old Man: Okay, pick up one of the Slowpoke while I put the rock on its head, okay! I don't want it to squirm or anything.
Hero: Pick... it up? Really?
Old Man: Yes, yes, just choose one! It's not like they're slimy or anything.
Click on a Slowpoke (doesn't matter which one). It doesn't squirm, but it stares with a dopey look on its face.
Old Man: Ooh, you chose my favorite one! I call him Harold, but I can't tell the difference between him and the other ones, honestly. Now lemme put the Rock on his head... beautiful! Now put him in the water.
Hero: Okay...
Old Man: According to legend, the Shellder will bite its head instead of its tail and - wow, look at that!
Short animation of Slowpoke evolving into Slowking.
Old Man: Harold! You're majestic. Look, Hero! He's leading the Slowpoke away from the marsh.
Hero: Where are you going to take them now?
Old Man: Why, I'm going to take them to the paradise where Slowpoke live! It's a beautiful lake with pretty mountains and waterfalls and the whole doodads. I used to live there, you know! Where will you be going?
Hero: Route 52, probably. I'm on a journey, too.
Old Man: Well, good luck on both of our travels! I feel thirty million years younger now, because of these fine Slowpoke. I'm not as old as I look, though, mind you! Well, farewell, Hero! Maybe we'll cross paths someday.
Old man walks away from the marsh. Return to Scene A.
RANDOM THINGS
~The "glowing light" that appeared above the marsh in the beginning of the sidequest is a reference to an actual phenomenon that happens in marshes, called the will o' the wisp. Duskull was chosen to represent the light since it learns this Will O' Wisp, the move. Shuppet and Vulpix do, also, being Pokémon that can be found in the grass. Also, both Duskull and Shuppet are Ghost Pokémon, which makes sense considering they are not far from the presumably Ghost-ridden Route 52.
~The Pokémon found in the water are all Water's Edge Pokémon (closest thing we could get to river Pokémon) that were either fish or could be fished in real life (fish, crayfish, etc.). The exception is Shellder, which is a Sea Pokémon, but it was included for obvious reasons.
~I hope the talking parts aren't too long (Ice got carried away :D) :U Feel free to summarize them, ahaha.
~This would probably be early on in the game, so the fishermen's Pokémon would probably be extremely low-leveled. That's why Milotic was chosen for the final battle, since it technically doesn't evolve by level up.
~Because of the battles, I'm sure there would be some house or something that would allow you to heal your Pokémon before heading off to Route 52. I would say the Captain's Wife or something, but we weren't sure if you wanted an extra place to heal between Serenade/52. Or you could use the Rest function, but I don't know how that works so yeah!
~The fact that the old man provides the hero with only one Net Ball is supposed to keep the player from taking advantage of the free Poké Ball - like, they would just keep using the free Net Balls to catch whatever they wanted and not catch the Shellder. If a Net Ball doesn't exist in the RPG, you can just replace it with a Poké Ball, I guess, or a higher Poké Ball.
~The possible prizes from this sidequest are a Net Ball and a King's Rock, if you beat all the fishermen. The fishermen are supposed to be pretty easy, though. I don't know how the RPG will work though - if a King's Rock doesn't hold any importance in the RPG, it could probably replaced with something from the Captain's doodad boat.
~Ice was going to have the old man joke that he was Ash Ketchum's dad if the hero asked for his name (since the old man never reveals his name), but Ice guesses (yay present tense) that Ash Ketchum doesn't exist or existed a few decades ago. Anyway.
