I was wondering what ribbons would you like to see in the future? I cannot remember when the last ribbon was made, but it has been way too long. Frosti and I want to add more ribbons to your collections, hopefully to spur activity. However, we thought it would be best to get some suggestions.
Maybe we could have ribbons related to milestones in the galleries? Like x number of favorites or x number of gallery submissions (the number of submissions ones could be split up between the different categories in the galleries maybe too?).
It may be fun to have a 3k forum post ribbon as well since right now it goes 100, 500, 1500 (and the featured Pokemon could be another loud one, like Noivern or Seismitoad).
We already have a ribbon in the works for the gallery. Wink wonk. We hope you guys end up liking it.
I did consider the number of submissions being split between different categories. While that's not what we went with, it could easily be tweaked I imagined. Maybe for music we could have a Pokémon wearing headphones or they could be singing/playing an instrument, etc..
And I love that idea. Tbh, I was thinking of a cat Pokémon slamming their paws against the keyboard, but it doesn't really match the theme we already have. I love the idea of Noivern being the 3k ribbon for that.
Maybe some more entry-level ribbons would get people hooked on the site faster. We already have Night Owl, which wasn't too hard to get back when the chat was still active at night (and pulling all-nighters in an attempt to outlast DP, good times...), but that's about it. It might be good to have some ribbons to encourage users to utilize site features that they might not know about right away, or that could do with some more activity. Maybe a Smeargle-themed ribbon for customizing your base for the first time, and a Wishiwashi-themed ribbon for joining your first group. Something to get new members interested on day one.
A lot of the existing ribbons are built around reaching a certain milestone, like forum posts, base comments, or days logged in (that last one doesn't work right now, Navs plz fix). Another milestone series of ribbons could be for receiving 5/10/15 hearts on a single stream post. Number of followers and number of users followed could be another one, sort of like the Miss Popular and Chatty McChatty ribbons track base comment stats. A milestone ribbon for Gallery submissions also makes sense. Not sure what the subjects/themes of these ribbons would be, but if I think of anything, I'll be sure to update this post.
Lastly, if there were going to be more events here on Route, custom ribbons for participating in those could be made as they're needed, like the Routelympics ribbons some users have. Personally, I think more events would go a long way to keep people interested in sticking around, even more than shiny new ribbons.
Idea dump Edit 1:
-Logging in on your birthday (Eevee poking its head out of a gift box)
-Anniversary thing (with balloons and confetti)
-Being in chat on New Years (something with Celebi)
-Creating 10 polls (Unown-?)
-Answering 50 polls (Unown-!)
-Having a Route Mail conversation (Delibird)
-Linking your Twitter account to your base (Chatot that looks like Twitter logo)
i think more ribbons would be a really good idea! i remember when we came up with the silly route scouts idea and we had a bunch of badge ideas that were related to submitting different types of media to the galleries (base styles, text, art, etc) and starting forum posts in different categories?
the previous ideas were also super cool! i like the idea of the new years and number of favorites, especially. maybe different holiday-themed ribbons would be cute.
I second a lot of what Toxikyle said: having more easily obtainable Ribbons would help greatly with engaging new members with the site, and perhaps even maybe having Ribbons that upgrade with a certain amount of the same task (imagine something like merging the 7-day streak and 30-day streak ribbons into one slot that simply gets upgraded instead of being separate) would keep users going with making content. In addition, being able to see what ribbons you could obtain would drive users to contribute to being active on the site.
