Glitch, data placeholder, error handler - whatever they are, they're effectively akin to the cryptids of the Pokémon world. And just like "real world" cryptids, I find them super interesting.

After a pretty fun Community Day, my fiancee and I found the PokéStops in our town completely swamped with the Niantic's odd creature, and honestly it was super interesting even though they disappeared, transforming into Chikorita and Ditto after we caught them.

Also, regarding the title, I don't think the little creature /  Nutto / Missingnut is actually a placeholder!! I want to believe it's going to be a real Pokémon... :3c

What's this Nut thing? I can't anything on it

I'll try to cut a super long story short, but a few days ago a French hacker was looking into the backend source of Pokémon GO and found a bizarre model and set of animations for this thing, listed under Kecleon. He showed it off in a stream, and news of it exploded onto Twitter and Tumblr and 4chan and Reddit. Niantic tried to patch it out this morning, during the Japanese Community Day event, but accidentally (somehow...?) made it start spawning all over Japan and Australia, and then (rare) world wide, and now it's been appearing all over Europe and America. It's potentially a leaked Pokémon design for a Generation 8 mon, or it could just be a placeholder model Niantic never intended anyone to see - we won't know the full truth until they give us an official announcement about it ; u ;
