Route 50 Calendar - Change of Plans

Posted December 16, 2012 at 1:44am by Xetajaadm

Salutations to one and to all, your Group Coordinator reporting.

Oh look, it's December.

So let's talk about calendars.

EDIT. Because this is important, so if you're going to tl;dr, read this part.

The calendar will become a school calendar, spanning August 2013 to July 2014. That means our deadlines have reached the summer season.

As expected (at least, I expected), the calendar remains unfinished, but that's all right. The previous news post mentioned the possibility, and considering November-December tends to be the school crunch time that ends first quarters/first semesters, I don't know why I would have ever imagined being done before winter break.

Right, but here lies the problem: 2013 is 15 or 16 days away. Can we finish by then? Perhaps, but let me bring up that this calendar project was brought up to be a fun, collaborative project for those of Route 50 who wanted to contribute and support Route 50 (and thank you all so very much for your continued support. Route 50 would not be what it is without all of you).

However, if a project becomes overly stressful and no longer fun (because I know some of the collaborations have basically fallen through and become solo projects), then the point of the project has basically disappeared. Now, I'm not saying that this calendar is a failure to what its intended purpose to be, but what I'm saying is that I don't want people to stress out and put a high priority on this thing.

I mean, really. It's December. It's almost Christmas. Relax and spend time with those important to you.

That being said, after a long-winded spiel of text, let's get to my point:

Do you want the calendar we are making to be for 2013 or 2014?

If we aim for 2013, that means we're basically going to have to book it and try to get everything done by the end of the year. That means that if we put the calendar up for sale, it'll be available January 2013. Erm. Hopefully.

If we aim for 2014, well. That basically means we have an entire year, so that if people want to make any edits to their calendar images, then by all means, do what you feel necessary since you (and the rest of your group if you're a part of one) are the creator(s).

I'm directing this question towards those who have offered to participate as, because you are the ones working on the project, I feel your input is the most important to figuring out what we want to do.

That being said, I will also raise the point of the mock staff calendar.

To be honest, I'm really hoping no one is actually anticipating it to be good, because my gosh, people, what, why would you spend your money on something like that?

In any event, the idea is like this: I will upload every image of the staff mock calendar so people know exactly why it's a waste of money. Srsly, I'm only doing this to amuse myself what I imagine it to be like. That being said, I will not put it up for sale.

At least, immediately.

If a good majority of people are still interested in buying the staff mock calendar for whatever reason, then I will also upload it to be on sale. I was really tempted to say that all the money 'earned' from the mock calendar (which is around, what, $1-2?) would go to mean as a mean to further dissuade people because, let's be serious, it'd be pretty twisted that I'd be making money off of Route 50, especially making it off of staff members when I don't even own anyone but myself.

So once again, if the staff calendar goes for sale, then the 'earnings' will still go to Route 50.

TL;DR: Current calendar for 2013 or change it to 2014 so basically have the entire year to prepare the calendar (and not have a calendar for 2013)?

Staff mock calendar taking an arrow to the knee. At least, some aspects.

That is all I have to report. If you have any questions, contact me either by base message or PM.

Route 50 Calendar - November Crunch Time

Posted November 9, 2012 at 2:41pm by Xetajaadm

To be fair, December is really the crunch time since we want to get these things out before 2013. However, it'll be nice to have things finished in November to have a little leeway in case anything comes up. Anyways.

Salutations to one and to all, your Group Coordinator reporting.

We've finally reached November, and at this point, I'm certain people are still really busy with their devices. Still, I'd like for us to finish a majority of the calendar before December. It would be good to avoid going into winter break for everyone so that people can sit back and relax, but if that cannot be achieved, then we'll work down to the wire.

The main thing here is that I want the calendar done before 2013. I would like it done earlier before December because I want to order a calendar for myself to check the quality and make any necessary edits so that people can receive the best Route 50™ they can for 2013.

At this point, everything is locked. Also, DarkPegususcool, I'm just going to drop you in December because I can. :userTwill:? I still don't know. Come join us on the cover? Anyways, the groups.

If there is a question mark next to a name, it means I have no idea if this person is actually participating as I have received no notification of their willingness to participate OR to continue participating. Although they might have signed up, they will be disregarded until they show some sign/interest/life that they're going to actually participate. Can't wait forever after all.

Months with question marks are months that I have no idea what is going on with because people haven't notified me or that the group members haven't been able to get in contact with each other. Or nothing's happened at all. I'm uncertain.

In any event, going to start putting up 'deadlines'. If you're done, then this is irrelevant to you.

Nov. 12th - You don't have to give me a detailed one, but give me something to look at. I want to see that an idea for the month has been created. It would be best if a small sketch/thumbnail can be provided for me to see that some work has begun. I just want to see things going. If you're already beyond this point, just show me a work-in-progress. You may PM or just leave a message on this entry.

Nov. 24th - At this point, I would like to see proof that some work has been done in creating whatever you're creating for the month. Show me a work-in-progress via PM (as the image will be a little more secret until the calendar is out).

November. 30th - IDEALLY, you'll be done by now, but if not, just keep working.

IF AT ANY MOMENT YOU THINK YOU'LL NEED HELP OR THAT YOU MIGHT NOT MAKE IT IN TIME, PLEASE TELL ME and we will figure something out. Thank you.

That is all I have to report. If you have any questions, contact me either by base message or PM.

Route 50 Calendar - October Update

Posted October 2, 2012 at 12:57pm by Xetajaadm

Well, kind of, but not really. Anyways.

Salutations to one and to all, your Group Coordinator reporting.

Just wanted to update on the calendar and kind of check in with everyone and see how things are doing. We more or less mostly have the month 'teams' done. For those who are interested in participating, but still have yet to join a month that's still open/the cover, you should probably message the people who are also working on that month and then tell me so I can add you to the list. It's a lot easier to get rid of the middle person in communicating.

We already have September done, hurray. I'm apparently going to work on the calendar cover by myself? Oh, how lonely, but I'll survive. For the other months, I kind of want an update on how things are going for you guys, so one of you should leave a message on my base or PM me. :U I'd like for things to not be pushed until the last minute.

Other than that, nothing much to mention, I think. If you're part of an open month and you still want someone else working on that month, feel free to ask me to help? I'll probably be able to make time to help. I would offer up Frosticoord's services, but I haven't even asked her if she wants to help out, so derp. XD Frosticoord also offers up her skills, so if you want K-Bars adorbs art for your month, you can go to her.

Also, I really need to work on the staff calendar, hur.

Also, I guess I'll mention it here, too. We'll be using Zazzle for the calendar. There's more information on the discussion board, so head over to there to check it out. It's at the bottom of the main post.

That is all I have to report. If you have any questions, contact me either by base message or PM.

Route 50 Calendar

Posted September 5, 2012 at 4:44pm by Xetajaadm

Salutations to one and to all, your Group Coordinator reporting.

With the Routelympics over for the time being, the artists and poets? of Route 50 can band together to work on the next big project: the Route 50 Calendar.

I wonder if we should trademark that... Route 50™ calendars.

Right, anyways, currently, we have a poll going on about who's interested, but at this point, a vast majority has basically given positive feedback to the idea, therefore, we shall make this happen.

Now the only problem here is that even if I post this here, only 31 of our 79 members would see this, since only 31 members are subscribed, and not only that, not everyone is a part of the Artist's Alliance.

Therefore, perhaps I will make a separate group and use the announcement system to give this project more publicity. For the time being, however, the Route 50 calendar project will the 'promoted' through the Artist's Alliance.

Basically, this will be a project we work on every year to create a calendar for the following year. This year, we're going to be working on the calendar for 2013. Not sure how we want to do it yet and if we want to get these printed, we need to use some kind of service life cafepress.com or the like. Not sure if there are any other ones which we can use, but since some of you are interested in buying a physical calendar, we're going to have to figure out where we're printing these so that we can match the dimensions of the images.

We'll also need to know if people are more interested in a month-based calendar (where you flip it and have 12 images, plus 1 image for the cover) or an entire year calendar where you only have 1 image and all the months underneath in small print. More information to be disclosed in the discussion.

If we don't find any other possible printing services, we'll stick with Cafepress.

That is all I have to report. If you have any questions, contact me either by base message or PM.

Route 50 needs some art!

Posted April 10, 2012 at 10:05am by Katadm

Update: We got some! Thank you to the lovely lovely people who sent us art. We're good now. ^^

Hi artists of Route 50!

Right now, I'm working on the new page that will show to anybody who's not logged in, or who's not a member.

We have tons of art right now, but we don't have anything that was specifically made to welcome people to Route 50.

So if you'd like to draw an image that sort of represents Route 50 and welcomes new members to the site (like waving Pokemon), then I would love to put it up on the new page!

I do need the picture pretty soon though, so if you can work quickly that would be best. ^_^ Also, I will try to fit in as many as possible, but it all depends on the amount of submissions there are (though I'm not counting on many).

Thanks!

- Katadm
