Hitchhiker's Guide Discussion

Posted October 23, 2014 at 8:46pm by Frosticoord

It's a bit past when we were going to start talking about this book, but hopefully that just gave you all more time to finish reading... right? I hope at least some of you have read the book so that we can discuss!

Regardless; the discussion is posted here, so feel free to join in on that.

While that's happening, please do go leave more book ideas for our next book, either in the comments of this news post, or in the Book Ideas section of the Discussion board. We'll start voting on our next book on October 30th.

September Book: Hitchhiker's Guide

Posted September 12, 2014 at 11:40am by Frosticoord

Alright, friends. The votes are in, and our winner (by a landslide) is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams!

This is going to be my fourth time reading through this book, and my second time reading it with a book club, but honestly? I don't even mind, man. This book is hilarious, and it's a breeze to read through. Should be a fun one to read and discuss!

Unless anyone has any complaints, I think we should aim to have this book read by October 17th, which is a little more than a month away. I'm not entirely sure how much time to give for each book that we read, so please do leave a comment saying when you've finished it! By the 17th, though, we will begin a group discussion.

And remember: Don't Panic.

September Book Vote

Sorry for the delay in posting this poll. Life seems to be getting the better of me, these days. Anywho! Poll ends on the 12th; haven't exactly decided how much time I'll give you all to read the book. Perhaps until the end of October? It might help if you all post when you obtain the book/finish reading it. Shrug!

Hey there, fellow bros of the book! I've gotten some requests to get this club going again, and... hey, why not? Books are great, you guys are great, this club should also be great again!

Although I do understand that the beginning of the school year can be a bit stressful as far as work loads can go, I also feel like it's a good time to get back onto a set schedule. Because of this, I'm aiming to have a new book picked out by the first of September so that we can start reading straight away. So for now, please leave book suggestions in the comments of this journal! We'll be taking a vote starting on August 24th, and our book for September will be finalized a week after that.

So, comment away... and I hope this club grows to be a success again!

October Book: A Clockwork Orange

Posted October 1, 2013 at 8:48am by Frosticoord

Hello, folks! We really are starting things back up around here, and thanks to the vote, we've got our next book- A Clockwork Orange, written by Anthony Burgess.

I actually read this book this past summer, and it's very good. Something of a literary classic, really. There's a lot of Russian slang used in it, which can be hard to get through at first, but.. just stick with it. It gets easier.

I suppose I'll throw in a quick warning, here- there's quite a bit of violence and a rape scene, so if that makes you uncomfortable, don't read it?

So, go pick up that book and have it read by the end of October so we can talk about it! And in the meanwhile, if you have any more book suggestions, just drop them off in the Book Ideas discussion.
