Writing OCT?

Ive been watching a few OCTs on Deviantart lately, and ive been wanting to enter one myself, but the only ones I ever find are for artists only, and wont accept written entries. Perhaps we could have one here? Now, Im not sure if id be able to create and manage it myself, partly because I would want to participate, and partly because I fear id let everyone down somehow, but pokemon is definately something id like to write about, and I need more reason to get writing anyway.

For those who don't know, OCT stands for Original Character Tournament. Two contestants are paired up against one another, and must write an entry where their character finds and does battle with their opponents character, and the opponent does the same. The entries are then judged, and the better entry moves forward to the next round. In the end, the victors story becomes the accepted "cannon" story of the tournament.

Is anyone intrested in something like this? Just wonderin.

OCTs! I'd love to help and participate in an OCT! It sounds super fun.

Hm, yes, I had plans for a writing OCT (as well as an art OCT), but since the new year just started and groups just started, I wanted to postpone any heavy writing competitions until later in the year. I'm thinking a really good OCT with enough people would take up more than a month though.

In any event, I'm sure people would be interested in joining and I'd be glad to help 'sponsor' an OCT if you would like to run one, but if you also want to participate, then I'll take full duty of running the competition, although I don't quite know if I'm 'qualified' for that and then I'd have to think about what to do for prizes other than the pride of winning and a small badge thing... XP

But in regards to what Sparky mentioned about writing about Pokemon, I'm thinking I'll set it up so Pokemon will appear, but the OCT won't be completely Pokemon. Or at least, some of them? We can have multiple OCTs and stuff... But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Waiting certainly is no problem. Just been longing for something like that. And im rather happy to see you guys are intrested. As for being involved... that would interest me. I suppose the only thing I wouldn't be able to do would be judge if I wanted to participate too, cause that would make things quite obviously biased. But as for helping figure out events and plot, I don't see an issue.

Hmm, sounds interesting. Something I'd consider taking part in, although writing about pokemon is definitely not my forte.

It wouldn't necessarily have to be writing exclusive. Could have drawing involved too. No problem with that.

It wasn't the writing bit that was the issue - more the pokemon bit :laugh:
